A Narrative of an Ascent to the Summit of Mont Blanc Made During the Summer of 1827 (First Edition)

Extremely rare.

A privately printed publication done by Benjamin Hawes for his brother, William, who accompanied Charles Fellows on the fourteenth ascent of Mont Blanc. This copy is one of 50 printed and is wonderful in its production. Hand-set type with large margins on luxurious paperstock. The frontispiece depicts names and heights of the Mont Blanc peaks and a facsimile letter is tipped in. This copy has been rebound in quarter brown calf and green boards.

First edition. London: Privately Printed, 1828. 4to. 33pp. Folding letter tipped in. Bound in quarter brown calf and green boards. Very good. Covers rubbed and bumping to corners. Contents near fine. Some foxing to endpapers, otherwise clear and bright. A lovely copy of a very rare private publication of only 50 copes.

Provenance:Ā From the library of Warwick H. Williams.
