Bound in original blue publisher's cloth with original unclipped pictorial dust wrapper. Titling to spine in gilt. Very good. Dust jacket unclipped ($3.50), extremely scarce. Some mild rubbing and wear along edges and at creases. Faint age toning along top edge. Binding sturdy, square and tight. A few faint markings to covers here and there. Contents very good. Mild age toning to preliminaries and photographic plates. W. Williams blind stamp to lower title page. Otherwise, contents clear and bright. A beautiful copy in collectible condition.

Tilman's accounting of the British American 1936 Expedition to Nanda Devi in the Garhwal Himalayas of India. The expedition successfully ascended the mountain, setting a record for the highest climb at the time. This copy has been signed by Charles Houston, American physician and mountaineer. Houston is famous for his attempts to scale K2 and the Karakoram range, in which he and others very nearly perished.
