Assemblage, Environments & Happenings (First Edition)
A rare first edition of Kaprow's collection of "Happenings", his term for a contemporary form of Avant Garde art. Per Kaprow's preface: This book is an introduction to a recent development in the arts. It concentrates on the background, the theory, and some of the implications of these developments. Beyond a brief example here and there, it does not attempt to study particular works. Stretching out, instead, an overall view.
First Edition. New York: Harry N. Abrams, 1966. Large, square 4to. Original publisher's burlap covers. pp.341. Bound in brown burlap with original glassine cover. Lettering in salmon to cover and spine. Near fine. Glassine wrapper slightly yellowed and crinkled. Lettering has some very small cracking at some edges. Some very mild foxing along foredge of text block. Otherwise, volume presents brilliantly. Clear and bright.
Please note: This item is large and/or heavy. It may require additional postage costs to be paid. If so, we will contact you after purchase.
