First Edition. Paris: Librairie Sandoz et Fischbacher, 1877. 4to. Half velum and marbled boards. x, 488pp. 3 folding maps, one b/w at pp14-15, two coloured at rear. Two-page panorama. 15 engraved plates throughout text.

Bound in contemporary half still velum and marbled paper board. Titling in gilt to red calf panel on spine, gilt margins. Upper edge red, others uncut. Marbled endpapers. Ex-libris bookplates of Vernon Howard and Graham Irving to front pastedown. Very good. Some rubbing, scuffing, and bumping to vellum edges and corners. Spine head worn. Marbled boards rubbed with some wear at front and back. Upper edge colouring mildly faded. Contents very good. Some foxing and markings throughout. Mild toning to some plates, not effecting contents. Folding maps in similar shape to other contents, however structurally excellent: no tearing at seams or joints. Otherwise, presents excellently. Contents complete and in good shape.
