Symbolic Logic: Part 1 Elementary (Association Copy, Inscribed by Author)

Fourth Edition (Second Thousand). London: Macmillan & CO., LTD. , 1897. Small 8vo. Original brown cloth hardcover. Stamped in black on front cover. Pages: xxxi, 199, 3 pages of advertisements. Signed and dedicated by author on half title page.

Very rare presentation copy inscribed by author to Muriel Taylor, an inspiration to Carroll that inspired characters particularly in his later works. Very Good. Hardcover boards in very good condition, some weathering along edges and on spine creases, minor delamination at upper edge on rear face. Contents very good, end papers have age toning on free papers at front and rear. Text block has some age toning along top edge, some foxing along all edges.

Based upon Dodgson's (Carroll's) earlier work A Game of Logic. This later publication expands upon the first and presents as a more formal textbook of the authors theories on fundamental logic.

Provenance: Presentation copy of Fourth edition. Inscribed by the author to Muriel Taylor. Muriel Taylor was one of Carroll's "revenants", figures from his life that had a significant impact on his later writings.
