A facsimile edition of one of the foundational accounts of German Antarctic exploration. Drygalski expected the expedition to be purely scientific, which fell at odds with the expectations of Imperial Germany at the time. This expedition was amongst the first to use photography extensively and effectively to document and record their scientific activities.
Bound in original brown publisher's buckram. Cover lettering and margins stamped in black and spine lettering stamped in gilt. Cover illustration blocked in black. Near fine. Some very minor rubbing to spine creases.
