Bound in full brown Morocco. Gilt and blind tooling to all surfaces. Spine lettered in gilt. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Large folding map at rear with cloth-backing. Early owner's inscription inked on first page verso. Very good. Binding somewhat rubbed at creases, edges, and on covers. Gently sunned on spine and upper covers. Gilt tolling remains bright on all surfaces. Contents in near fine condition. Some very minor markings here and there. Large folding map backed by cloth and in excellent condition. Overall, a beautifully bound copy of one of the most important works on early Alpine mountaineering in excellent condition.
